UNDERSTANDING PESO
The Public Employment Service Office is a non-fee charging multi-employment service facility established pursuant to Republic Act No. 8759 otherwise known as the PESO Act of 1999.
It is tasked to carry out full employment and equality of employment o opportunities for all, to strengthen and expand the existing employment facilitation service machinery of the government particularly at the local levels. PESO is a community-based and maintained largely by Local Government Units in cooperation with Non-Government Organizations, Community Based Organizations, Universities and Colleges, Technical Vocational Institutions as well as those institutionalized by virtue of legislative actions of LGUs. It is linked to the regional offices of the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) for coordination and technical supervision and to the DOLE Central Office to constitute national employment service network.
OBJECTIVES OF PESO
1. Ensure the prompt, timely and efficient delivery of employment service.
2. Provision of information on the other PESO and DOLE Programs.
Specific Objectives
1. Provide venue where people could explore simultaneously various
employment options and actually seek assistance they prefer;
2. Serve as referral and information center for the various services
and programs of DOLE and other government agencies present in the
area;
3. Provide clients with adequate information on employment and
labor market situation in the area;
4. Network with other PESOs within the region on employment for
job exchange purposes.
ROLES OF PESO
1. Guarantee of ‘ Right of Work’ and ‘Freedom of Occupational Choice’
(for workers).
2. Guidance and assistance concerning recruitment activity
(for employers).
3. Construct database concerning Labor Market Info System
(for all stakeholders).
